Single daisy-like flowers 5 to 5.5 inches across have broad, overlapping ray petals held horizontally in soft cantaloupe melon, around a raised, spiny cone in a matching melon-orange tone. At peak bloom the plant carries many flowers at once, held on strong stems well above the leaves.

Growing it with lavender

It shares lavender's liking for sun and well-drained soil, and its soft melon flowers make a warm, gentle contrast with lavender from midsummer on.

Care

Plant in full sun to light part shade in average to lean, well-drained soil; it handles heat and dry spells once established and dislikes wet winter soil.
