Why this pairing works
The orange drink gives the glaze real citrus flavor and a sunny color that matches the lemon muffins. Poppy seeds look a little like pumpkin seeds, which the kids find very funny.

- 1 bag Lavender Muffin Mix (Lemon Poppy Seed), plus the ingredients listed on the package
- 2 to 3 Tbsp Lavender Sunset (Orange) Gourmet Drink Mix, prepared according to the package directions
- 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 drop orange gel food coloring, optional
- 1 tube black or chocolate writing gel
- 12 small pretzel pieces or green candies, for stems
Directions
- Prepare and bake the muffins according to the package directions. They are done when a toothpick comes out clean. Cool completely.
- Whisk the powdered sugar with 2 Tbsp of the prepared orange drink and the food coloring. Add more drink a teaspoon at a time until the glaze is thick but spreadable.
- Dip the top of each muffin in the glaze and let it set 15 minutes.
- Draw jack-o'-lantern faces with the writing gel and press a pretzel stem into the top of each one.
Set up a decorating station with the muffins already glazed. The glaze needs to set before the faces go on, or the gel slides.
