Order Cancellations
If you need to cancel, ask as soon as possible. A cancellation request doesn’t guarantee an order can be stopped.
Orders can generally be cancelled without a fee when we receive and process the request before the order enters fulfillment, packing, plant preparation or shipment. Live-plant orders are different: a wholesale 50% plant deposit is non-refundable, and a cancelled paid-in-full plant order keeps 50% of the plant price (see Pre-Orders & Reservations).
- Order received, not startedCancellation usually possible
- Being prepared or packedMay no longer be possible
- Shipped or with the carrierCan’t be cancelled
If we cancel after payment, the refund goes to your original payment method. Banks may take extra time to post it.
Living products
Live Plant Orders
Live plants are selected, watered, staged, sleeved, trimmed and packed for each order. Contact us before fulfillment begins to cancel or change a plant order. Once plants are allocated or prepared, we may not be able to cancel or materially change the order.
We may delay a shipment when extreme temperatures, severe weather or carrier schedules put plants at risk. Your order stays active and ships when conditions are reasonable unless we tell you otherwise.
Seasonal appearance
Dormancy, seasonal trimming, no flowers or normal seasonal appearance aren’t grounds for cancellation once fulfillment has started. Condition concerns after delivery are handled under our plant protection programs.
Plants on reserve
Pre-Orders & Reservations
A pre-order reserves plants that are growing, dormant, seasonal or not yet ready to ship. Pre-orders are open to retail and wholesale buyers in every size — 3-inch plugs, 4-inch pots, 1-gallon pots, 72-cell and 20-cell trays, and bare root.
| Buyer and ship or pickup date | What you pay today |
|---|---|
| Retail, any date | Payment in full |
| Wholesale, within 30 days | Payment in full |
| Wholesale, 31 or more days away | 50% non-refundable deposit — the balance is due two weeks (14 days) before your ship or pickup date |
Retail plant orders are always paid in full. The 50% deposit is for wholesale buyers only. We recommend reserving about six months ahead. You’re welcome to request an earlier date, and we’ll confirm what’s possible.
Minimums for trays and bare root
- Retail buyers can order a single 72-cell or 20-cell tray.
- Wholesale plant orders have a $250 minimum, counted at wholesale price, and any plant size counts toward it.
- Wholesale 72-cell trays: 2-tray minimum. Varieties can be mixed.
- Wholesale 20-cell trays: 3-tray minimum. Varieties can be mixed.
- Bare root (retail and wholesale): 25 plants per variety, then multiples of 25.
- Shipped wholesale plant orders include a $5 handling charge per tray or box. There’s no handling charge for local pickup.
If we can’t fulfill a pre-order
Crops can fall short. If we can’t propagate or fill your pre-order, we’ll let you know and refund everything you paid for the plants we can’t send — deposit included.
Cancelling a pre-order
A pre-order reserves greenhouse space, plants and production time that we set aside for your order and can’t sell to anyone else. That’s why a deposit is non-refundable and a cancelled paid-in-full order keeps 50% of the plant price.
| If you cancel before fulfillment and you paid | What happens |
|---|---|
| A 50% deposit (wholesale, date 31+ days out) | We keep the deposit. Nothing more is owed. |
| In full (all retail orders, or wholesale within 30 days) | We keep 50% of the plant price and refund the rest. |
| Anything, and we can’t propagate or fill the order | Full refund, deposit included. |
Once an order enters fulfillment or ships, it can’t be cancelled.
Large commercial orders, reserved production and specially sourced inventory may have separate cancellation or deposit terms shown before purchase. Those terms control that order.
Wholesale Baskets & Date Changes
Wholesale buyers can save a basket in the Trade Desk and finish it later. Moving an order or basket to a different ship date means going through the order builder again for that date.
Protection pricing depends on the season and weather for your ship date, so changing the date — or adding to a basket for another date — requires a fresh protection quote.
Order Changes
Changing an order is treated like a cancellation request because fulfillment may already be underway. Before fulfillment begins, we may be able to help with:
- Product changes
- Quantity changes
- Shipping address corrections
- Requested ship-date changes
- Adding eligible products
- Removing eligible products
Availability isn’t guaranteed, and price differences, extra shipping, taxes or other adjustments may apply.
Address changes
Please check your shipping address before ordering. Once a package is with the carrier, we may not be able to redirect it, and extra costs from an incorrect address may be the customer’s responsibility.
If offered
Subscriptions & Trial Offers
If we offer a subscription, you authorize recurring deliveries for the products, frequency and duration you choose. You can change or cancel future deliveries using the subscription link with your order or account. Cancelling stops future orders but doesn’t cancel an order that has already been charged, prepared or fulfilled. Any additional rights under applicable law still apply.
If we offer a “try before you buy” program, the trial period and return steps will be shown with the offer. Live plants and other perishable horticultural products aren’t offered on a trial basis unless a specific offer says otherwise.
Cancellations by Great Lakes Lavender Farm
We may cancel all or part of an order when reasonably necessary, including because of:
If we cancel a paid item, we’ll refund the amount collected for it to the original payment method unless another remedy is agreed or required by law.
Once Your Order Has Shipped
An order can’t be cancelled after it has shipped. Shipping damage, loss, theft, plant condition and later plant failure are handled through the claims process instead.
Refunds After Cancellation
When an eligible cancellation is completed after payment, the refund goes to the original payment method. For live plants, the refund follows the deposit rules in Pre-Orders & Reservations. Your bank or card issuer may need extra time to post it.
Original shipping or other costs already incurred may be non-refundable when fulfillment or a service has already begun, unless the law or another policy says otherwise. See the Return & Refund Policy for returns after delivery.
How to Request a Cancellation
Contact us right away with your order number, name, email and the products you want to cancel or change. Sending a request doesn’t cancel an order by itself — it’s cancelled when we confirm it before the fulfillment cutoff.
