The guidelines

What we ask of every grower

The Great Lakes Lavender Grower Community is a place for practical learning, thoughtful questions and respectful collaboration.

Be helpful and respectful

Share information in good faith, welcome growers at every experience level and discuss disagreements without personal attacks or harassment.

Provide useful growing context

When asking for help, include relevant details such as your approximate location or growing zone, plant type, sunlight, drainage, watering practices and recent weather. Photographs should be clear and should not reveal private information.

Keep advice responsible

Community responses represent individual experience and are not a substitute for professional laboratory testing, licensed pesticide guidance, veterinary care, medical advice or legal advice. Always follow product labels and applicable regulations.

No spam or deceptive promotion

Unrelated advertising, repetitive promotions, fraudulent claims, impersonation, malicious links and undisclosed commercial solicitation are not permitted.

Protect privacy and original work

Only share photographs and content you have permission to publish. Do not post private customer information, addresses, order details or personal conversations without consent.

Moderation

Great Lakes Lavender Farm may edit, hide or remove content that violates these guidelines or creates safety, privacy or community concerns. Repeated or serious violations may result in restricted access.

English lavender, zone 5b: lower leaves yellowing after two rainy weeks

Planted a 4-inch pot in late May. Clay soil, amended with grit. About 7 hours of sun. I watered twice a week until the rain started. Lower leaves went yellow over the last 10 days; the tips still look green. I stopped watering 5 days ago.
