Harvest is our favorite stretch of the year on the farm, when the long season of weeding, watering and waiting finally comes in from the rows. Our Lavender Harvest Bar Soap is our way of bottling that mood, or rather barring it: warm, comforting fall notes blended with soft, herbal lavender in a 5 oz bar made in small batches.
What Harvest smells like
Think of a cool evening, a flannel shirt pulled on over a T-shirt and a walk out to the field before dark. The autumn notes are warm and rounded, and the lavender sits in the middle, keeping the blend fresh instead of heavy. It is cozy without smelling like a bakery, which makes it an easy fall scent for people who find sweeter seasonal soaps a bit much.
Using it day to day
- At the sink: wet your hands, turn the bar a few times and work up a lather before rinsing.
- In the shower: lather in your hands or on a washcloth for an all-over cozy scent.
- After use: set it on a draining dish, out of the spray, so it can dry completely.
Making a handmade bar last
Small-batch bars are happiest when they dry out between uses. A bar sitting in a puddle softens and washes away much faster than one perched on a slotted or ridged dish. If you share a shower with a crowd, cut the bar in half with a kitchen knife and keep the second piece dry in a cupboard until the first is gone. A spare bar tucked in a dresser drawer also leaves a light autumn scent on folded sweaters.
