Long summer evenings on the porch are one of the best parts of farm life, and the Lavender Repel Ceramic Candle was made for them. It is a 9 oz hand-poured candle with a fresh, herbal lavender blend and a bright, green edge, set in a sturdy ceramic vessel that looks good on a patio table or a picnic spread.
Quick answer: This is a scented candle for ambiance, plain and simple. Burn it out of strong wind for an even melt, never leave it unattended, and reuse the ceramic vessel when the wax is gone.
What it is, and what it is not
The Repel name ties this candle to the green, herbal scent of our Repel line. The candle itself is about atmosphere: soft light and a fresh lavender scent on warm nights. It is not a pest control product, just a nice reason to stay outside a little longer.
Burning it well
- First burn sets the pattern. Let the melted wax reach the edge of the vessel before you put it out so it does not tunnel down the middle.
- Trim the wick. Keep it trimmed to about a quarter inch before each lighting for a calmer flame.
- Find shelter from wind. A breeze makes the flame flicker and the wax melt unevenly. A corner of the porch or the lee side of the table works best.
- Stay close. Never leave a burning candle unattended, and keep it away from kids, pets, cushions and anything that can catch.
- Use a stable surface. Set it on something level and heat-safe, not a wobbly porch rail.
Inside or out
It was made for porches, patios and backyard evenings, but the fresh herbal scent works indoors too, especially in a sunroom or kitchen during summer. Bring it in when rain is coming; water in the wax pool makes for a sputtering flame.
Giving the vessel a second life
Once the wax is gone, let the vessel cool, scrape out any remaining wax and wash it with warm, soapy water. It makes a good pot for a small succulent, a holder for garden markers or a cup for pens on a desk.
