Lavender Sunflower Body Butter: A Sunny Day in the Middle of January

On this page
Michigan winters are long, and we hold on to summer any way we can. Our Lavender Sunflower Body Butter is one of the best ways we know. It is a rich, comforting 7.5 oz butter with a bright, sunny, softly floral scent balanced by lavender, a little reminder of lavender rows next to nodding sunflowers when there is a foot of snow on the ground.
Quick answer: Start with a small scoop and massage it into hands, elbows, knees and feet, especially after a shower or before bed. A little goes a long way.
The scent
Sunflower here is cheerful and a little unexpected: bright and softly floral rather than sweet. Lavender rounds it out with a calm, herbal note. The scent is light enough to wear every day, so it works for the office as well as the couch.
A winter routine that sticks
- Shower first. Pat skin mostly dry, leaving it a little damp.
- Small scoop. Warm it between your palms until it softens.
- Massage in. Hands, elbows, knees and feet are the usual dry spots in cold weather.
- Socks for feet. At bedtime, a pair of cotton socks keeps the butter on your heels instead of your sheets.
Butter versus lotion
A body butter is thicker and richer than a lotion. It is the better choice for the driest spots and for the end of the day, when you have a few minutes to let it sink in. For quick daytime use after hand washing, a lotion is faster. Plenty of people use both.
Jar care
Use clean, dry fingers or a small spoon, and close the lid after each use. Store at room temperature, away from radiators and heat vents, which can soften the butter.
A gift for sunflower lovers
Gardeners, sunflower fans and anyone counting the days until spring will appreciate a jar. Pair it with the matching Lavender Sunflower bar soap and lip balm, or mix and match in the Gift Box Builder.
