Collection: Lavandin
Lavandin — Lavandula × intermedia
This collection represents Lavandula × intermedia, the accepted hybrid between Lavandula angustifolia and Lavandula latifolia. Grosso, Hidcote Giant, Hidcote Giant Blue, Phenomenal, Provence, and other cultivars remain separate plant identities.
Lavandins are generally vigorous plants with long flower stems and strong aromatic-oil production. Cultivars differ in flower color, fragrance profile, mature size, bloom time, and winter performance. Lavandin cultivars are normally propagated vegetatively rather than reproduced true from seed.
Michigan growing note: Hardiness varies by cultivar and site. Excellent drainage is essential, and the individual cultivar's zone guidance should control planting decisions.
