About From Nebraska Gift Shop

From Nebraska Gift Shop sits at 803 Q Street in Lincoln's Historic Haymarket, inside the Huber Building, a two-story brick factory put up in 1901 for a thresher maker. Port Huron Machinery & Supply worked out of it from 1941 into the 1980s, and it remains one of the Haymarket's clearest links to the farm-implement trade. Jim and Barb Ballard, who also own James Arthur Vineyards in Raymond, took over the shop in 2014 and added a tasting room for the winery, with a grain bin hung above the tasting bar.

The shelves lean hard into the state: Nebraska beef and bison, popcorn, sauces, dressings, candy and snacks, plus Husker and Nebraska clothing, mugs, magnets, postcards and cookbooks. There is also work from local makers, including candles, soaps, metalwork, jewelry, cards, art and books, along with a children's corner and Nebraska-themed Christmas items. If you need a gift to carry home, the shop sells ready-made Nebraska baskets and lets you build your own assortment box.

The tasting room pours James Arthur Vineyards wines and Curveball Ciders, and the shop lists wine tasting, tours and live local music among the reasons to stop in, with events posted on its website. The store is open seven days a week, with late hours on weekdays and Saturdays, so it works well as an evening stop after dinner in the Haymarket.

From downtown Lincoln, White Barn Lavender Farm near Bennet is roughly 12 miles southeast, about a 25-minute drive, so you can pair a morning on a lavender farm with an afternoon browsing Nebraska-made goods in the Haymarket.
