Season plans
| Plan | What it means |
|---|---|
| Season extension | Extend the normal season with active scouting. Heats toward 65°F. |
| Protected overwintering | Hold perennial stock cool and quiet; routine watering and harvestable growth pause. Heats only toward 42°F. |
| Cool vernalization | Give cultivars the 35–50°F chilling some need to flower. Heats only toward 42°F. |
| Post-chill forcing | Resume active growth only after chilling is met; winter forcing needs the full heat and control kit. |
Rules for cold plans
- Overwintering and vernalization can only be chosen from September through March.
- They only count when the inside air is 30–50°F; otherwise the log says no dormancy or chilling credit was recorded.
How the climate is modeled
- Inside temperature starts from the farm's outdoor high and low, plus sun warming (less with shade or double cover) and night heat held by the cover and curtain.
- Exhaust fans and roll-up sides pull it back toward outdoor temperature on warm or humid days.
- A powered heater warms toward the target (65°F, or 42°F on cold plans), limited by its 85,000 BTU/h capacity.
- Light (DLI) is outdoor light through the cover (less under shade), plus 7 with powered lights.
- Humidity rises with more plants, a mist bench and automatic watering, and falls with ventilation.
- Botrytis risk is High at 85% humidity or more between 55°F and 75°F.
Weekly heating cost
When the heater and electrical service are installed, each week costs coins based on how far the week's temperatures fall below the target (at least 2 coins). The double-layer cover, energy curtain and controller all lower it.
