Where the weather comes from
Every farm day has a real calendar date. For each farm week the game downloads the weather that was actually recorded at your farm's location on those seven dates, from the Open-Meteo historical weather archive. It gets the daily high and low, rain and snow, wind, sunshine, evaporation, plus hourly temperatures, humidity and soil temperature.
When a farm date is later than the records reach, the game uses the same calendar week from a recent real year instead. Each farm year draws on a different real year from the last decade, so winters, droughts and wet springs vary the way they really do.
The game also loads the next week's weather ahead of time, so Advance Week doesn't have to wait.
If the download fails
If the archive can't be reached, the game fills in a seasonal estimate built from monthly averages so play can continue, and keeps trying to fetch the real record. On a farm with a set location, the Your farm card says “Checking this week's weather…” rather than showing an estimate as your local weather.
What weather does on the farm
| Weather | Effect |

| Rain | Adds soil moisture and stored water; heavy rain on poorly drained soil hurts plants; pauses watering, planting, harvest and pruning. |
| Sun and wind | Dry the soil each week. |
| Warmth | Drives growth. The game counts how far each day's average is above 50°F. |
| Frost and freeze | Damage active growth; also mark the start of winter rest. |
| Heat (90°F+) | Costs plant health, much more if the soil is dry. |
| Strong wind and tornadoes | Damage or destroy plants. |
| Cold weeks | Put lavender into dormancy and count chill weeks for bloom. |
Weekly weather alert
The Your farm card on the Farm Map and a strip on the Lavender Field show the single most important weather alert for the week, named for your town:
- 🥶 Deep cold (a low of 10°F or below)
- ❄️ Frost tonight or this week (32°F or below in the next three days)
- 🔥 Heat wave (95°F or above)
- 🌧️ Soggy week (2 inches of rain or more)
- 💧 Humid week (80% humidity with highs of 75°F or more)
- 🌨️ Snow (3 inches or more)
- ☀️ Dry, warm week
- 🌿 Calm week
