Rain and Wet Weather

Rain refills your soil and water storage, but too much on slow-draining ground hurts lavender, and rain pauses watering, planting, harvest and pruning.

🎮 Play it in the game

Rain and soil moisture

Each week the game adds up the rain. About 22 moisture points come from each inch (up to 38), while sun and wind take moisture away. The difference is the week's moisture change for every active plant, limited to between −22 and +38 points.

Rain and stored water

Rain also fills your farm's water storage: about 8 units per inch, up to your water capacity.

When rain hurts

  • An inch or more of rain in a week, on farm soil that drains under 65%, costs each unprotected plant 12 health. Raised-row protection on the plot prevents it.
  • Soil moisture over 88% costs 10 health a week, and plants stop growing above 88%.
  • Unresolved root-rot cases in Farm Health keep hurting plants on wet soil (drainage under 50%) even in winter.

What rain pauses

ActionPaused when
Watering0.25 inch or more of rain today or in the next two days (and moisture is above 25%)
Drip irrigation0.25 inch of rain or more this week
Outdoor planting0.5 inch today, or 0.2 inch on soil draining under 45%
Harvest and pruningAny measurable rain (0.03 inch) or a rainy, stormy or snowy day

Tips

  • When the game won't let you water because rain is due, that's a good thing: lavender rots in soggy soil.
  • A Drainage swale on the Farm Map gives the tiles next to it 12% better drainage.
