Overview
Each plot's moisture shows as a blue bar under the plant, and Inspect gives the exact number (for example “Soil moisture: 65%”). New plants start at 65%.
Moisture bands
| Moisture | What it means |
|---|---|
| Under 15% | Too dry: −10 health per week; no growth |
| 15–20% | No growth |
| Under 35% | Dry: Huckleberry suggests watering (mature plants can be watered below 35%) |
| Under 45% | Young plants (first 8 farm weeks) can be watered |
| 65% or more | Adequate: watering is paused to protect the roots |
| Over 88% | Too wet: −10 health per week; no growth |
What changes moisture
- Watering a plot adds 40 points (up to 100).
- Weekly weather: rain adds about 22 points per inch; sun and wind dry the soil. The change is between −22 and +38 points a week.
- Drip irrigation adds 8 points a week when it runs; Farm Map drip lines with a well add 28 points to thirsty plants (under 60%), up to 78%.
- Harvesting takes 8 points (not below 20%).
- Dormant plants keep their moisture between 18% and 88% over winter.
Tips
- A Soil sensor layer on the Farm Map adds tile-level moisture monitoring and gives the row's plants +1 health each week.
- Water the root zone only when needed, then let it dry; lavender dislikes constant wet.
