Overview
The Planting plan is a planning tool for real lavender plantings. It opens from a link on the farm's Lavender Farm Planner page or a plant's page, which turns on the 🪻 Planting plan tab in Design. Areas you draw are a plan to look at: they aren't planted, watered or harvested in your game, and they cost nothing.
Drawing an area
- ✏️ Draw a planting area: tap points around an outline, then ✅ Finish. Or pick a ready-made shape: ◯ circle, ⬭ oval, □ square, ♡ heart or ☆ star.
- 〰️ Draw a lavender line: lavender planted along any line you draw, with as many rows alongside it as you like, as a smooth curve or straight.
- ▦ Snap to 5 ft, and move any gold point to reshape the outline.
Settings for an area
- Variety: one, or up to three that take turns row by row (purple, white, pink), in bands of a set number of rows.
- Spacing: between plants (1 to 12 ft) and between rows (2 to 20 ft), with a button for the variety's own spacing, and how much is kept clear at the edge.
- Pattern: Rows, Labyrinth rings, Spiral walk, or Rows that follow the outline (with an open center for the ringed ones).
- Curve the rows: bow them up to 30 ft either way.
- Edge: none, or a raised timber bed, stone border or brick edging. Weed fabric under the plants, and pea gravel, wood chips or bare soil between them.
- Size you are buying: shows how many trays the area takes.
Seeing it
- A live count of plants, with square feet and acres.
- ▶ Watch it grow: planting day is in May; month by month the plants fill out, bud in June, bloom in July, fade in August and rest gray through winter, in the real colors and shape of the variety. The slider covers three years.
- 🗺️ Just my land hides the game farm so only the plan shows on open ground.
- 🚶 Room for visitors sets the rows at least 8 ft apart: room to walk two side by side and take photos. 🌿 Close as a hedge sets the plants close so they grow together into one hedge.
- Planned gazebos and pergolas, walks and drives inside an area are left out of the planting.
- Your land can be found by address or by coordinates, and other crops, greenhouses and pole barns can be planned beside the lavender.
