Bright Note is a free-flowering rebloomer with small, sunny yellow flowers 2½ to 3 inches across. Each scape is loaded with buds, so the plant keeps up a long, cheerful display from early summer into midsummer and beyond.
Its neat size and clear color make it a natural for edging paths, the front of a border or a mass planting where you want dependable yellow.
What it looks like
Small, neatly rounded flowers 2½ to 3 inches across with slightly ruffled tepals in clear sunny yellow and a green-yellow throat. Each bloom lasts a day, but many buds open in turn on branched scapes rising to about 25 inches above a fountain of long, arching, strap-shaped medium green leaves. The foliage clump is about 15 inches tall and 18 to 24 inches wide. At peak bloom the clump is dotted with dozens of small bright yellow flowers.
Growing it with lavender
Its clear yellow flowers make a crisp contrast in front of purple lavender, and it handles the same sunny, well-drained soil.
Care
Grow in full sun to light part shade (at least six hours of sun for the best bloom) in average, well-drained soil; once established it handles heat, clay and dry spells. Hardy in zones 3 to 9. Deadhead regularly and pull spent scapes to keep new buds coming, and divide crowded clumps every few years.
