Sound of My Heart has 5-inch pastel pink flowers with a very wide wine purple eye and a matching purple picotee along the ruffled edges. The petals open flat, which makes the most of the pattern.
It starts in early July and reblooms into early fall, and the flowers are fragrant.
What it looks like
Flowers about 5 inches across with ruffled petals opening flat in pastel pink, a very wide wine purple eye zone, a matching purple picotee edge and a green throat. Each bloom lasts a day, but many buds open in turn on branched scapes rising to about 28 inches above a fountain of long, arching, strap-shaped medium green leaves. The foliage clump is about 17 inches tall and 18 to 24 inches wide. At peak bloom soft pink flowers with bold wine eyes are spread along the scapes.
Growing it with lavender
Its wine purple eye ties in with lavender's color while the pastel pink softens the bed, all in full sun and good drainage.
Care
Grow in full sun to light part shade (at least six hours of sun for the best bloom) in average, well-drained soil; once established it handles heat, clay and dry spells. Hardy in zones 3 to 9. Deadhead regularly and pull spent scapes to keep new buds coming, and divide crowded clumps every few years.
