On this page
A little something for the neighbors, the teachers and the mail carrier. Lavender rock candy gets a dunk in chocolate and a roll in crushed candy canes, then turns any mug of hot cocoa into a party.

Why this pairing works
As the stirrer swirls, chocolate melts into the cocoa and the rock candy slowly sweetens it with a hint of lavender. Peppermint adds a cool, festive finish.
Makes 12 stirrers Prep 20 min + 30 min setting Cook 5 min
Ingredients
- 12 Lavender Rock Candy
- 1 cup semisweet or dark chocolate chips
- 1 tsp coconut oil
- 1/3 cup crushed candy canes
- 2 Tbsp Lavender Sugar
- Cellophane bags and ribbon, for gifting
- 1 Lavender Hot Chocolate Mix (Snowman Gift Jar), to gift alongside
Directions
- Line a sheet pan with parchment. Mix the crushed candy canes and Lavender Sugar on a small plate.
- Microwave the chocolate chips and coconut oil in a tall mug in 20-second bursts, stirring each time, until smooth.
- Dip the bottom third of each rock candy stick into the chocolate, let the extra drip off, then roll it in the candy cane sugar.
- Lay the stirrers on the parchment and let set, about 30 minutes at room temperature or 10 minutes in the fridge.
- Bundle 3 or 4 stirrers in a cellophane bag with a ribbon and tuck them beside a Snowman Gift Jar.
A tall, narrow mug makes the melted chocolate deep enough to dip without scraping. Store finished stirrers somewhere cool and dry, since humidity makes rock candy sticky.
Serve it with: Lavender Hot Chocolate Mix (Classic)
Make it your own
- Use white chocolate and crushed freeze-dried raspberries for a pink Valentine's version.
- Stand the stirrers in a jar on a hot chocolate bar so guests can grab one.
