About Apple Annie's Orchard
Apple Annie's Orchard is a family farm in the Sulphur Springs Valley near Willcox, where the 4,300-foot elevation brings warm days and cool nights. John and Annie Holcomb planted 6,000 apple trees in the early 1980s to grow fruit commercially, and when the trees began bearing in 1986 they opened the orchard for you-pick. The family added Hunsdon Farms in 2003, and today son Matt and his wife Alicia grow more than 125 acres of vegetables. In 2013 they bought the old Stout's Cider Mill building and opened the Country Store.
The fruit orchards on Hardy Road open daily in July and August, with apples, peaches and pears to pick. Gala and Bartlett pears usually ripen in August, Fuji, Granny Smith and Rome Beauty in September and October, and Pink Lady in October; peaches run July through September. On Williams Road, the produce fields offer sweet corn, tomatoes, cucumbers, okra, black-eyed peas, green chilies and more, with chili roasting, then pumpkins, gourds and sunflowers in September and October. The farm says the 2026 apple crop was light after spring heat and wind, so U-pick apples are very limited this fall and already-picked apples from partner orchards are on hand.
Admission and parking are free; you pay for what you pick. Fall brings what the farm calls Southern Arizona's largest corn maze, with a new design each year, plus hayrides to the pumpkin patch. The Orchard Grill serves pancake breakfasts and applewood-smoked burgers on weekends, and the Country Store on Circle I Road sells fresh pies, apple bread and fudge daily.
Firesky Farms, a lavender farm near Elgin, is about 90 minutes west. A summer weekend can cover peaches here and lavender in Southern Arizona wine country.
