About Bartlett's Apple Orchard and Farm Market
Bartlett's Apple Orchard has been growing, packing and shipping apples in Richmond since 1947, when Francis and Betty Bartlett and Fran's parents, A.J. and Sophie, invested in the farm. Four generations have worked it since, with Rick and Ron and their wives Cindy and Joan, and now Rick's sons Erick and Trevor. The orchard covers 24 acres on Lenox Mountain in the Berkshires and averages about 11,000 bushels a year.
Pick-your-own runs from about Labor Day weekend through Columbus Day weekend, sometimes longer if the weather and crop allow; in 2026 the orchard posted that picking would continue until October 25. The U-pick block is up the hill behind the store on Yokun Road, open daily from 10 to 5, and no reservation is needed. Varieties include Paula Red, Jonamac, McIntosh, Cortland, Gala, Macoun, Empire, Mutsu, Liberty, Ida Red, Jonagold, Red Delicious and Golden Delicious.
The farm market is open all year. It sells fresh cider pressed from a blend of the orchard's own apples (good mulled in winter), cider doughnuts, apple muffins, turnovers, pies and cookies, along with maple syrup and fruit and gift baskets. The orchard sits among Berkshire parks, lakes and hiking trails, so it makes an easy stop on a fall foliage drive.
