About Battlefield Lavender
Battlefield Lavender is a family lavender farm on North Rangeline Road outside Centralia, a short drive from the site of the Civil War battle that gives the area its history. Katie and Jason Lockwood moved to the property in 2011, dreamed up the lavender farm in 2016 and set out their first plants in 2018; the farm describes itself as woman- and veteran-owned. It now bills itself as Missouri's largest lavender farm, with more than 2,400 plants of 14 varieties in about 1.3 miles of rows. The plants are weeded and harvested by hand with no pesticides or herbicides, and the farm's honeybees work the blooms.
Lavender blooms here in early and mid-June. In 2026 the you-pick season ran from Friday, May 29 through Sunday, June 14. During harvest the drying barn fills with roughly 10,000 bundles, and the farm offers free show-and-smell tours of the barn. Classes in crafts, painting and floral arranging run through the year, and private classes can be booked.
The gift shop is open year-round and stocks more than 300 items made on the farm, from bath and body goods and aromatherapy to culinary lavender, tea blends and home decor, plus lavender-themed gifts from other small businesses. Admission is free, and there is a military discount. The farm is partly wheelchair accessible. Groups are welcome but should contact the farm ahead.
Columbia is about 35 minutes southwest. Uprise Bakery there makes a good breakfast or lunch stop before heading north to the farm.
