Big John's Christmas Trees has sold trees in Atlanta since 1949, when Big John Livaditis, a former policeman and Golden Gloves boxer, was offered a spot on the Zesto Drive-In lot on Peachtree Road. His sons carried the business on, and today Jimbo and Leigh Ann run it with their children, the third generation. The main lot is in Buckhead Village at 302 E. Paces Ferry Road NE, with three more in Brookhaven, at Ansley Mall and in Dunwoody Village.
The family visits its growers in the U.S. and Canada, some of whom have supplied them for about 50 years, and fresh trees and greenery arrive almost daily through the season. At peak there are nine varieties on the lots, including Fraser fir, Douglas fir and blue spruce. Trees are set to arrive on November 18 for the 2026 season, the business's 77th, and every lot is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
Beyond trees, the lots carry wreaths in magnolia, cedar, boxwood, Fraser and noble fir, plus garland, stands, lights and ornaments. Staff will fresh-cut the trunk, wrap the tree, load it with trunk and roof protectors, and mount it in a stand bought on the lot. Delivery and installation, tree lighting, and after-holiday removal and recycling are offered too.
Saddle Creek Lavender in Ranger is about 1 hour 10 minutes northwest up I-75; its lavender blooms from late May to late June, so save that drive for early summer.
