About Chart House Lake Tahoe

Chart House Lake Tahoe sits on a hill along Kingsbury Grade above Stateline, overlooking Lake Tahoe. The restaurant calls its view the lake's most gorgeous sunset, and it bills itself as a good place to watch the Fourth of July fireworks over the water. It belongs to a long-running group of seafood and steak restaurants known for waterfront and view settings.

The menu leans on seafood and steak. Herb-crusted, slow-roasted prime rib comes in several cuts, priced from $44 to $57 on the current menu, alongside honey thyme salmon ($39) and Key West halibut ($55). The dessert most people plan around is the Hot Chocolate Lava Cake, $13 small or $16 large; it takes about 30 minutes to bake, so order it with your entrée.

Dinner is served every night from 4 pm, until 9 pm Sunday through Thursday and 9:30 pm on Friday and Saturday. Happy hour runs Monday through Friday from 4 to 6, with bites at $8 and $10. Reservations can be made through their website, which is the surest way to get a table timed for sunset. The restaurant also lists private dining for groups.

Sierra Shadows Farm, a lavender and honey farm in the Carson Valley near Gardnerville, is about 25 minutes away down Kingsbury Grade. Visit the farm in the afternoon, then drive back up the grade for an evening meal with the lake view.
