About Dave's Pumpkins
Dave's Pumpkins has grown and sold pumpkins on Algonquin Road since 1976 and calls itself Huntley's original pumpkin farm. It is still family run, and it sits on the Huntley and Lake in the Hills side of town, about two miles west of Randall Road. The family has also added a pick-your-own patch about three miles west of the main farm.
The farm opens for fall in mid-September and runs to Halloween; in 2026 it opened Saturday, September 12. Weekday hours are late afternoon into the evening on Monday, Thursday and Friday, and weekends run 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., which makes an evening visit easy. Every pumpkin is $9, whatever the size, and the farm also sells gourds, squash, corn shocks, straw bales and other fall decorations.
There is no admission or parking fee. The one paid activity is a spooky hayride at $6 a person, with children 2 and under free. Everything else is free: pumpkin bowling, pumpkin checkers, a mini sunflower maze, a straw mound, fog bubbles, old-fashioned pedal tractors and antique farm tractors to look over. The farm is proud of its cider donuts, and the farm takes party bookings and photo sessions.
Maria's Farm, a lavender farm in Marengo that welcomes visitors by appointment, is about 25 minutes northwest.
