About Destilería Jardín de la Alcarria
Destilería Jardín de la Alcarria is a small family distillery on the El Alto business park above Brihuega, the La Alcarria town known for its lavender fields. The founders grew aromatic crops for more than 30 years before opening it in 2007 as the first distillery in Brihuega to produce lavender and lavandin essential oil.
Guided tours run only while the fields are in flower. The published tour season is June 27 to July 31, and in 2024 tours started on June 24 and continued until the bloom ended. A tour follows the whole process: how cuttings are prepared, how the different lavender and lavandin types are grown, and how the distillation equipment works. It ends at a viewpoint over Brihuega and the Tajuña valley. On weekdays tours start on the hour from 5 to 8 p.m.; weekends add morning tours from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The gift shop sells their pure lavender and lavandin essential oils and products made from them. Groups of more than 15 can ask for a different time, and outside the lavender season groups of that size can book a visit with an add-on scent workshop.
Book by phone, by email or through the contact form on their website. Mariem Lavanda, a family grower that also leads tours in the Brihuega fields, makes a good second stop on the same day.
