About Distillerie Bleu Provence
Distillerie Bleu Provence stands on the Promenade de la Digue in Nyons, the olive town of the Drôme provençale. The family has distilled lavender and other aromatic plants here since 1939, and its organic certification goes back nearly 30 years. The distillery works in town, so you can see the stills without driving out to the fields.
When the stills are running, visitors are free to watch the plants being distilled, depending on the day's work. A discovery space on lavender is open during shop hours. The distillery also runs hands-on workshops: lavender spindle weaving, natural cosmetics, cooking with plants, perfume making and soap making for children. Their website lists the workshops but not their prices, so call to book.
The shop is open Tuesday to Saturday, 9:30 a.m. to noon and 2:30 to 6 p.m., and also opens Sundays and Mondays during French school holidays. It sells organic lavandin oil from the Abrial variety, AOP fine lavender oil, organic lavender floral water, thyme oil, massage oils, shower gels, candles and lavender macarons, all with published prices.
Nyons is the gateway to the Baronnies hills, so the distillery is a natural first stop before a drive through the lavender country to the east.
