About La Ferme aux Lavandes

La Ferme aux Lavandes sits at 740 meters on the Route du Mont Ventoux, about 2 kilometers from the village of Sault. Five generations of lavender growers and perfumers have worked here, and since the 2000s the farm has kept a botanical collection of the lavender genus, so the 5-hectare floral park shows far more than the usual purple rows: blossoms run from blue and violet to pink and white. A heritage orchard, old roses and rare plants share the grounds.

The park itself is open every day, Sundays included, from June 15 to August 30, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission posted on their website is €2.50 for adults and €1.50 for children; you check in at the small cabin at the entrance. Weekday guided farm walks, usually at 11 a.m., are by appointment only, and during the bloom you book them by phone. Outside summer the park opens by appointment.

The shop stays open much longer than the park, daily from mid-April through October and in the afternoons through winter. It carries lavender and lavandin essential oils, dried lavender and sachets, eau de toilette, soaps, honey, syrups, candies, jams, culinary lavender, herbal teas and books on lavender. In summer the farm's dwarf Angora rabbits and cats wander the grounds, which children enjoy.

Aroma'Plantes is a few minutes down the same road, so the two make an easy pairing on a Sault morning.
