About Prairie Pines
Prairie Pines is a longtime Christmas tree farm a few minutes outside Wichita that also grows lavender, both English lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) and lavandins (Lavandula x intermedia). In June the farm turns into a lavender destination, and its shop sells small-batch lavender products year-round.
Lavender Daze runs on Saturdays in June from 10 to 2; in 2026 that was June 6, 13, 20 and 27. Admission is free and you pay only for what you do. Watch a harvesting demonstration and cut your own bundle ($10 in 2026), make a lavender sachet at the self-guided processing station ($4), or catch the 11 a.m. distilling demonstration and take home fresh hydrosol ($8 for 4 ounces). There is live music, the natural gardens are open, and the farm sells lavender lattes, lemonade, cocktails, cookies and scones.
On Friday and Saturday evenings in June, Lavender Haze opens the gardens from 5 to 8 for golden-hour strolling, outdoor seating, lemonades and cocktails, also with free admission. Reservations are recommended for the hands-on workshops, which in 2026 included lavender wreath making and aromatherapy bracelets on set dates through the month.
The rest of the year the farm keeps busy with its Christmas tree season, a Halloween attraction, a dinner theater and photography sessions. For a sweet stop in town, Cameo Cakes Sweet Shop in Wichita is about 15 minutes away.
