About Stone Creek Farms
Stone Creek Farms sits on Blair Road outside Huntingdon, in the ridge-and-valley country around Raystown Lake. Nick and Becky Weikel bought the land in 2013 as an investment, and for years it grew hay and corn. A 2022 trip to a Christmas tree conference in Michigan, where they toured a lavender field, changed their plans. They decided to plant lavender so people could enjoy the fields in different ways, and Becky, an educator, plans to retire to the farm.
The farm now has about 2,600 plants in 14 varieties, an unusually wide mix for a field this size. Named varieties include Phenomenal, Grosso, Maillette, Riverina Thomas, Sensational, Munstead, Hidcote Pink, Edelweiss, Alba, Provence, Royal Velvet, Folgate and Imperial Gem, so you can compare white, pink and deep purple types side by side.
Visits are booked in advance through their website rather than drop-in. The farm offers photo sessions in the field in 60, 90 or 120 minute blocks, and has run a hands-on lavender wreath class in early July. The shop is large: lavender bundles, culinary buds, lavender sugar, simple syrup, lemonade and baking mixes for pancakes, brownies and shortbread, along with soaps, tallow balms, lotions, bath bombs, shower steamers, eye pillows, neck wraps and even shampoo for dogs.
Check their website for the current booking calendar before driving out, since there are no posted walk-in hours.
