Elegant Candy has round, heavily ruffled 4¼-inch flowers in medium pink with a triangular red eye and green throat. The color holds well in the sun, and the flowers are notably fragrant.
It starts in early July and reblooms over deep green, healthy foliage. Like most daylilies it tolerates slopes, poor dry soil and salted roadsides.
What it looks like
Round, heavily ruffled flowers about 4¼ inches across in medium candy pink with a bold triangular red eye and a green throat. Each bloom lasts a day, but many buds open in turn on branched scapes rising to about 25 inches above a fountain of long, arching, strap-shaped deep green leaves. The foliage clump is about 15 inches tall and 18 to 24 inches wide. At peak bloom many round pink flowers with red eyes are open at once.
Growing it with lavender
Its pink-and-red blooms sit nicely beside lavender, with the same full sun and well-drained soil.
Care
Grow in full sun to light part shade (at least six hours of sun for the best bloom) in average, well-drained soil; once established it handles heat, clay and dry spells. Hardy in zones 3 to 9. Remove spent scapes promptly to encourage a later round of flowers, and divide crowded clumps every few years.
