About the Product

Pink Fizz is a durable foamy bells for sun or shade. It forms a full clump of large, deeply lobed soft green leaves with light silvering and heavy wine red to deep purple veins, and it holds its cool color and tight shape all season.

From early through midsummer, hot pink buds open to pure pink flowers packed closely along short wands just above the leaves. The plant is about 8 inches tall and 18 inches wide, a good size for edging, containers and cutting.

What it looks like

A full, low clump about 8 inches tall and 18 inches wide of large, deeply lobed soft green leaves with a light silver wash and dark wine red to deep purple veins. From early to midsummer, stems 10 to 13 inches tall carry closely packed spikes of pure pink star-shaped flowers opening from hot pink buds. At peak the plant is a silvery green mound topped with a dense band of pink wands just above the leaves.

Growing it with lavender

Pink Fizz can take some sun, but it prefers more moisture than lavender, so it fits best in a lightly shaded bed nearby with ferns or hostas.

Care

Grows in full sun to full shade. Plant in average to fertile, well-drained soil with even moisture; hardy in zones 4-9. Deadhead spent stems and tidy old leaves in spring.

Hardy in zones 4a–9b

Spring or early fall.

When it arrives

Your plug tray

Plugs arrive in active growth. Water the tray right away and keep it in bright shade, never hot sun. Plant within a few days or move into 3–4" pots. Set each plug so its top is level with the soil, and keep it evenly moist for the first month.

When to plant

Spring or early fall.

How deep

Set the crown level with the soil; never bury it.

Spacing

12–18" apart.

Soil

Humus-rich loam · pH 5.5–7.0

Fix-it tip: Add compost to clay or sand. Avoid low, wet spots; crowns rot from overwatering.

Sun

Part shade (tolerates full shade; more sun in cool, northern gardens).

Darker-leaved types handle more sun once established. Hot afternoon sun scorches leaves.

Don’t give up on it

Is it alive? What spring looks like

Often semi-evergreen; old leaves may look ragged in spring. Fresh leaves appear from the crown in early to mid-spring.

Care details are written for the whole foamy bells group; a few are our best general guidance rather than cultivar-specific testing.
