Lavender Classic Simple Syrup Kit: Pure Lavender Syrup, Made at Home Save

If you have ever paid extra for a lavender latte and thought, I could do this at home, you were right. The Lavender Classic Simple Syrup Kit is a kraft bag of our lavender sugar blend that turns into pure, gently floral lavender syrup in your own kitchen. Add water, simmer, steep, strain, and you are the café now.

Why Classic

Classic is lavender on its own, with no fruit layered in. That makes it the most versatile syrup in the family: it suits coffee, black and green tea, lemonade, sparkling water and cocktails without fighting other flavors. If you love a fruitier syrup, the Blueberry kit is on the combined listing below.

Step by step

  1. Combine the kit contents with 1 1/2 cups of water in a small saucepan.
  2. Simmer gently, stirring, 3 to 5 minutes until the sugar dissolves.
  3. Remove from heat, cover and steep 20 minutes. This is where the lavender flavor develops.
  4. Strain through a fine mesh sieve into a clean bottle or jar.
  5. Let it cool, then cap it and refrigerate.

A starter list of drinks

Drink How to use the syrup
Lavender latte 1 to 2 tablespoons in hot or iced coffee with milk
London Fog Stir into Earl Grey with steamed milk; see our Lavender Fog Tea Latte
Lemonade or iced tea Sweeten a glass or a whole pitcher to taste
Italian soda Syrup, sparkling water, ice and a splash of cream
Cocktails (21+) Use in place of plain simple syrup in gin and vodka drinks

Desserts, too

Brush the syrup over a warm cake to keep it moist, drizzle it on vanilla ice cream, or stir a spoonful into whipped cream. For a holiday idea, see our Gingerbread Lavender Trifle with Vanilla Cream.

Storing

Keep the unopened kit in a cool, dry cupboard. Store the finished syrup in a clean, sealed container in the fridge and use it within 2 weeks. Check the package for ingredients and allergen information.

Frequently asked questions

Can I steep it longer for more flavor?

The 20-minute steep is the sweet spot. Much longer can push lavender toward bitter or perfumy.

Is it a good gift?

Very. It is a fun, hands-on gift for coffee lovers and home bartenders. Add a bag of coffee in the Gift Box Builder.
