About Adelaida Vineyards & Winery
Adelaida Vineyards & Winery has been growing mountain fruit in the hills west of Paso Robles since 1981. Its estate vineyards are farmed organically and spread across steep terrain with different slopes, soils and microclimates, set among walnut groves. The wines come in tiers the winery calls Illustration, Signature and HMR, and the tasting room has a long wine bar, a members' lounge, a sensory room and a patio.
The everyday tasting is $25 a person, free for members and waived when you buy two bottles. It runs Wednesday through Monday from 10 to 3, and walk-ins are welcome, though a reservation is recommended. The Signature Hilltop Experience, $95 with local cheeses, is held just below the highest point in Paso Robles with views across to the Santa Lucia Range; it runs Thursday through Monday and must be booked ahead. The winery also offers a vineyard tour.
Dogs are welcome on the outdoor patios. Parties of seven or more should use the large party form on their website, and the estate hosts weddings, meetings and its own events. The tasting room closes on Tuesdays and on major holidays, including Easter, July 4, the day before Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year's Day.
Central Coast Lavender, an organic lavender farm that steam-distills its oil in a copper still, sits on the west side of Paso Robles, about 20 minutes back toward town, so a June or July morning in the lavender fits well before an afternoon up the hill.
