Ashland Berry Farm in Beaverdam has been run by the Gustafson family since Ken and Lynne Gustafson started it in 1978. Despite the name, the main draw for visitors today is October, when a hayride carries families out to a 30-acre pumpkin patch. The family also runs landscaping and pond services through the year.
Pumpkin picking runs in October, with weekend hours of 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and the last hayride to the patch leaving at 4:30. The $30 all-you-can-carry ticket covers the hayride and every pumpkin one person can hold in their arms while taking three steps; single pumpkins run $4 to $20 by size, and specialty pumpkins and gourds are sold separately.
Kids' activities run on weekends: Fort Pumpkin, with an inflatable maze, obstacle course and straw maze, an animal corral, a no-scares 3D Boo House and a ten-minute pumpkin escape room. An unlimited fun pass costs $15 per child, and parents come in free with it. The donut shop sells fresh donuts, hot dogs, fries and hot or cold cider. On select October nights, Terror on the Farm runs four haunted attractions from 7 to 10 p.m., with ticket prices that change by night.
