About Bascom Maple Farms
Bascom Maple Farms in Alstead is one of the largest pure maple syrup producers in New England. The operation boils sap from more than 100,000 taps and made over 45,000 gallons of syrup in 2019. It is also a major maple supplier to packers and food businesses, and it runs New England's largest stock of new and used sugaring equipment.
For visitors, the draw is seeing maple production at a scale few people ever do. Group tours, booked ahead by phone or email, walk through the vacuum monitoring systems, reverse osmosis equipment, steam-powered sap boiling, bulk syrup storage and bottling lines. Tours run about an hour and can be shortened to fit your schedule, and groups of any size or age are welcome.
The retail showroom covers more than 2,000 square feet of evaporators, tubing, fittings, containers and other supplies, so it is a natural stop for backyard sugarmakers. Each fall the farm holds a seminar day for sugarmakers; in 2026 it is Friday, November 6, with a talk on sugarhouse efficiency, manufacturer reps, a used-equipment spotlight and a free lunch. Maple syrup and maple products are sold through their website.
Bascom sits in the hills of southwestern New Hampshire, roughly 50 minutes west of Lavender Fields at Pumpkin Blossom Farm in Warner, so it pairs best with a slower back-roads loop through the region.
