About Bear Tracks Inn & Restaurant
Bear Tracks Inn & Restaurant is a family-run stop on Highway 6 at Ferndale, near Lion's Head on the Bruce Peninsula, owned by Roberta and Jeff Mielhausen and family. It is open all year, combining a small country-themed inn, a restaurant and a gift shop under one roof, which makes it a practical base for exploring the peninsula.
Rooms have two queen beds, a mini fridge, a coffee and tea station, free Wi-Fi and a wide-screen TV, and the inn welcomes pets. There is an EV charger on site for drivers heading up the peninsula.
The restaurant cooks with local food when it can. The dinner it is best known for is Georgian Bay whitefish, served seasonally when available; burgers are made with local beef on house-baked buns, and there are pot pies, pizza and a big breakfast served until 3 pm. Pies, butter tarts, cookies and muffins are baked in-house, and the dining room is licensed for beer, wine and spirits. The family also runs the Bear Cub Diner near Pike Bay, farther north, with take-out tarts. Behind the scenes, the kitchen composts its waste and uses recycled take-out containers.
Bluewater Lavender Farm near Wiarton is about 25 minutes south on Highway 6.
