About Forty Hills Farm & Flowers

Forty Hills Farm & Flowers is a small flower farm and homestead on Forty Hills Road outside Lion's Head, on the Bruce Peninsula. Its stated idea is to bring flowers, food and art together, and the farm sells bouquets and arrangements with its own greenery, dried flowers, holiday greens, and cards printed from original watercolors and flower photographs. The farm grows vegetables and fruit as well.

The farm is open all year for order pickups and workshops, but visits are by appointment. The exception is when the large yellow flags are flying at the road, which means you can drop in. From the Victoria Day weekend through Thanksgiving weekend, the easiest way to find their flowers is the Lion's Head Farmers Market on Saturday mornings at 1 Forbes St. by the beach, and the Tobermory Marketplace on Wednesday mornings. Cut flowers are mostly a spring-to-fall crop, so what's on the table changes week to week.

Workshops began in 2024 in the farm's barn studio and at other local venues. Topics have included flower arranging, painting and pressing flowers, seed starting, garden planning and dried flower decor, and groups can book a private session. The farm also takes custom orders and makes flowers for small weddings, reunions and community events, with a quote for each. A seasonal flower subscription is capped at 20 members a year.

Bluewater Lavender Farm near Wiarton is about 35 km south on Highway 6, roughly a 35-minute drive, so a summer day can take in a lavender visit and a Saturday morning at the Lion's Head market.
