About The Cedars of Williamsburg Bed & Breakfast Inn

The Cedars is a three-story Georgian brick house on Jamestown Road, a short walk from the College of William & Mary and Colonial Williamsburg. Dr. T. Brantley Henderson built it in 1933 for his seven children, using bricks from a century-old campus building that was being torn down; the inn says he paid local schoolchildren two cents a brick to gather them. In 1938 two sisters bought the house and turned it into a guest house, and it has hosted travelers ever since under a string of owners. Alex and Laura Vlk run it today.

There are 11 rooms in the main house plus a two-floor cottage that sleeps five. Rooms carry names from Virginia's colonial story, such as the Martha Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Patrick Henry and Rebecca Rolfe rooms, and four of them are on the first floor. Rates listed for fall 2026 dates start around $150 a night for the smallest room and $375 for the cottage.

A full cooked breakfast is served on the dining porch each morning. When booking you can add flowers, wine or a cake for two for an anniversary or birthday, and the inn also hosts small weddings and events. Children are welcome, and the cottage suits families.

Sweethaven Lavender is about 6 miles from the inn, roughly 15 minutes by car, making it easy to fit a reserved lavender-picking visit between days in the historic area.
