About Lavande d'Acadie
Lavande d'Acadie is a small, hand-planted lavender field on New Brunswick's Acadian Peninsula, near Inkerman. The project started in 2017, and the ground was built up for three years with buckwheat and oat cover crops, compost and lime before the first 900 plants went in during 2021. More than 1,500 more followed in 2022, all set by hand, and the field opened to the public for pick-your-own in the summer of 2023. The rows mix Munstead and Hidcote Blue, two culinary English lavenders, with Phenomenal, grown for its high oil yield.
Entry to the field is free. Picking your own costs extra, and the farm supplies scissors and a basket. The field is at its fullest from about July 7 to August 1, the same window the farm sets aside for photo sessions, which rent for 75 CAD an hour (2026). Beyond the rows there is a walking trail through the woods, a shaded rest area and a picnic spot.
Lavender oil is distilled on site, and the farm shop sells products made with it. The farm also takes part in a free fall festival at the Aquarium and Marine Centre in Shippagan, held Sunday, September 20, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The website is in French, and the farm accepts debit and credit cards.
For a meal or a drink after picking, the microbrewery Brasseux d'la Côte in Tracadie is about 25 minutes south.
