About Levanduľovo
Levanduľovo is a one-hectare lavender field above the Lipovina reservoir in Bátovce, at the foot of the Štiavnica Mountains and about 20 minutes from Levice. Two friends, Evka and Lucka, came up with the idea over coffee during the pandemic, inspired by an organic lavender field near Prague. After more than a year of looking for land, the Bátovce mayor offered them a lease on village land above the reservoir, and in 2021 they planted about 12,000 true lavender seedlings. The field is certified organic.
Bloom timing changes from year to year, but the field usually opens to the public on weekends from about mid-June to mid-July. Visits are by reservation, made by phone (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.) or email, and entry is by voluntary donation. You can sit among the lavender with coffee, tea or chilled lemonade and simply enjoy the flowers and the bees.
The field also hosts family photo sessions with local photographers, yoga classes in the lavender and a flower workshop where you make a wreath, with picking included. At the end of the season, the lavandin is opened for public picking, good for bouquets and drying. Nearby are a nature trail, a Saturday morning farmers market and a small cultural center with guest rooms.
