About Paul Bunyan Campground

Paul Bunyan Campground is a family-run tent and RV park on Union Street in Bangor, about 4 miles from the Bangor Waterfront and less than an hour from Acadia. Owners Dennis and Amy Hachey keep 88 sites, a mix of sunny and shaded spots for tents, travel trailers, fifth-wheels and motorhomes. Most RV sites have water, sewer and 30- or 50-amp electric, and every site has a picnic table and a fire ring.

The season usually runs from May 1 to October 10, with dates shifting slightly when they fall midweek. The heated 25-by-50-foot pool is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day, and summer weekends bring hayrides and theme events such as Christmas in July. The waterfront concert pavilion and the arena downtown are about 10 minutes away, which makes this a practical base for a show.

Families get a playground, modern bathhouses with hot showers and a free pancake breakfast on Sundays. 2026 nightly rates run from $38 for a site with no hookups to $60 for a 50-amp full hookup, covering two adults and two children; extra children are $3 and extra adults $5 a night. Well-behaved pets are welcome on a leash, but aggressive dogs are not, and day visitors can't bring pets and must leave by 10 p.m.

Moore Manor Lavender in Newport is about 30 minutes west on I-95, an easy summer afternoon trip from the campground.
