About PT's Coffee at Wheatfield Village
PT's Coffee has been roasting in Kansas since 1993 and says it helped pioneer direct trade, buying straight from coffee farmers. The roaster has won Good Food Awards in 2013, 2021 and 2023, was named Macro Roaster of the Year by Roast Magazine in 2009, and had Coffee Review's top-rated coffee of 2022. Its Wheatfield Village shop at 29th and Fairlawn is what PT's calls its hometown cafe; the other two cafes are in Kansas City.
The cafe serves breakfast and lunch alongside its coffee, with indoor and outdoor seating, and it runs a drive-through every day. It sits at the western end of the Shunga Trail, so you can pair a coffee with a walk or bike ride.
Hours are 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. seven days a week, which makes it an easy morning stop before a drive into the country. Bags of PT's coffee, roasted to order five days a week, are a good thing to take home, and you can order ahead online to skip the wait.
Somerset Lavender, a family farm on the western edge of Topeka, is roughly 15 minutes away. Check the farm's website for its festival and open dates, and stop here for coffee on the way.
