About Red Rocker Inn
The Red Rocker Inn is an 1896 Victorian house one block from downtown Black Mountain, about 12 miles east of Asheville and just off the Blue Ridge Parkway. Owners Katy Clavin and Michael Cys, who married in June 2022, look after the place, and the house has been renovated a piece at a time every year since 2014.
There are 17 rooms, furnished with antiques, and many have clawfoot tubs or fireplaces and newly redone bathrooms. The Tree House Suite, on the second floor of the carriage house behind the inn, is the newest, largest and most private. Rocking chairs line the front porch facing the mountains, and a fire pit out back is set up for evenings under the stars.
Breakfast is cooked to order and served to inn guests each morning starting at 8:30, with coffee and tea included. Dogs are welcome in the first-floor rooms and the Tree House Suite if you tell the inn ahead of time, and a pet fee is added. From the inn you can walk to Black Mountain's shops and cafés; the inn notes that the Biltmore Estate is about 15 minutes away and Chimney Rock about 25.
Geer Farm Lavender near Rutherfordton is about 50 minutes southeast. The small family farm is usually private but opens its rows for a June you-pick event, so check their social pages before planning an early-summer weekend around it.
