About Biltmore Winery

The winery at Biltmore sits in Antler Hill Village on the 8,000-acre estate George Vanderbilt built around America's largest home. It occupies what was once the estate's dairy facility, and its story begins with Vanderbilt's grandson William Cecil, who planted the first vines. Winemaker Sharon Fenchak leads a range of red, white, rosé and sparkling wines.

Every daytime ticket, including the grounds-only option, includes Antler Hill Village, the winery and a complimentary tasting in the Tasting Room, so the winery works as one stop in a longer estate day. Guests 21 and over can add specialty experiences such as the Red Wine & Chocolate Tasting, held in the clock tower above Scholar's Walk. The indoor-outdoor Wine Bar on Scholar's Walk pours wines by the glass, bottle or flight with charcuterie and locally made truffles, and the Wine Shop is next door.

Beyond the winery, tickets cover the gardens and grounds, and House & Grounds tickets add a timed visit inside Biltmore House with an audio guide. The estate runs Fall at Biltmore in autumn and Christmas at Biltmore for the holidays. Children 9 and under are free with a paying adult and youth 16 and under get a discount, though wine experiences are 21+. Picnics are allowed only in a few designated spots, such as Bass Pond and the Lagoon.

Geer Farm Lavender in Rutherfordton is about an hour southeast by I-26 and US-74. It is usually a private farm that opens its rows for a June you-pick event, so a June trip is the time to combine the two.
