About Cabbage Rose
Cabbage Rose is a large gift shop on Soco Road in the middle of Maggie Valley. Owners Scott and Troy opened it in 1986, four years after they started a 400-square-foot shop in town called The Tarnished Swan. The store began as one section of about 3,000 square feet and has since grown to more than 10,000 square feet of rooms to wander.
The Christmas shop is open all year and covers about 2,500 square feet of ornaments and holiday decor, along with flameless pillar candles and lighted canvases. The rest of the store mixes bath and body products, boho and shabby chic women's clothing, fashion and handmade jewelry, handbags, home accents, art, potpourri and silk florals. Staff will also put together custom floral arrangements, and the shop has recently added craft beer and wine.
The doors are open every day from 10 to 5, though winter hours can change between January 2 and April 1, so call before a trip in those months. Military discounts are offered; the shop asks you to call for details. It makes an easy indoor stop on a rainy mountain afternoon or when you are working through a holiday gift list.
Ochre Hill Farms, a mountain lavender and blueberry farm near Sylva, is about half an hour southwest of Maggie Valley. Spend the morning at the farm, then browse Cabbage Rose in the afternoon on the way back up the valley.
