Overview
Orchard crops are a long-term enterprise. The game's note for them: "A long-term enterprise requiring suitable cultivars, pollination planning, pruning, pest management and delayed bearing." They cost the most to plant and take the longest, but they pay the most per harvest and keep producing.
The crops
| Crop | Plant cost | Value per harvest | Weeks | Type | Plant in | Harvest in |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Apples | 160 | 260 | 18 | Perennial | Spring or Summer | Summer or Fall |
| Pears | 160 | 260 | 18 | Perennial | Spring or Summer | Summer or Fall |
Apples in the kitchen
- Every apple harvest adds one apple to your diversified inventory.
- The farm kitchen's Apples ingredient uses apples you grew before it uses apples bought at the Market Square grocer.
- Fall-only kitchen recipes use apples: Lavender Apple Butter (apples, culinary lavender, vinegar & pectin; worth about 50 coins; farm level 6) and Lavender Caramel Apples (apples, culinary lavender, lemons & sugar, candy sticks & straws; worth about 36 coins; farm level 7).
How enterprise plots work
- Diversification opens once your farm is established: Year 2, Level 5, 20 lavender harvests or 25 reputation (any one).
- You start with 4 enterprise plots and can add 2 more at a time for 250 coins × your current plots, up to 12.
- A crop grows one week each farm week. When it has grown its full weeks and the season is right, tap Harvest.
- A harvest pays the crop's value × (1 + reputation ÷ 300) in coins at once, gives 5 XP, and puts one unit in your diversified inventory.
- Annual crops leave the plot after harvest. Perennial crops stay and are ready again 5 weeks later.
Tips
- Plant orchard crops in spring so the 18 weeks finish inside the summer-or-fall harvest season.
- After a harvest a tree is ready again 5 weeks later while it is still summer or fall.
- Pears do not feed a kitchen ingredient, so plant apples if you want fall recipes.
