10 Barrel Brewing has been brewing in Bend since 2006, and its original pub on NW Galveston Avenue on the west side of town is still the place it calls the OG. Twenty taps pour seasonal and one-off beers, along with a rotating set of experimental recipes that are only served at this location. The pub has been voted best brewpub in Bend several times, according to the brewery.
The west side pub is open every day from 11 am to 9 pm, with a patio for outdoor dining. The kitchen cooks elevated pub food from scratch with ingredients from local producers: wings, steak and gorgonzola nachos, burgers, a fried chicken sandwich and pizzas. Cornhole tournaments come up on the events calendar, and the pub supports a local search and rescue foundation through its charity program.
Families are welcome, and the pub says minors are allowed at all hours. If you want a bigger space, the company's East Side pub at 62950 NE 18th Street (541.241.7733) sits next to the brewery and production facility at its headquarters, with 20 rotating taps, signature cocktails, steak frites and a patio, and a banquet room with views of Bend and the Cascades that can be reserved for events. In spring and summer the East Side pub stays open until 10 pm on Fridays and Saturdays.
Tumalo Lavender, a working lavender farm with summer U-cut and a seasonal farm store, is about 20 minutes northwest of the west side pub, a good pairing for a July day in Central Oregon.
