About Deschutes Brewery Bend Tasting Room & Beer Garden
Deschutes Brewery has been brewing in Bend since 1988 and describes itself as family and employee owned. Its production brewery sits on SW Simpson Avenue on the west side of town, and the tasting room and beer garden there are where visitors can see the place the beer is made, separate from the brewery's downtown Bend Public House.
The tasting room is open every day from noon to 7 pm, and the beer garden runs a little longer, from 11:30 am to 7:30 pm. Inside you can order pints and samples, fill growlers, pick up beer curbside or arrange a keg. Merchandise and gift cards are sold too. Brewery tours walk through the main brewhouse, the small-batch pilot brewhouse and the barrel house, and they are booked ahead on their website.
For food, the tasting room serves pizzas and pretzels from the downtown pub, and food trucks park outside the beer garden; Da Nang Vietnamese Eatery and WillieBurger are among them. If you want a full sit-down meal, the Bend Public House downtown is the brewery's restaurant location.
Central Oregon has several lavender farms within a short drive. Ultraviolet Lavender Farm (Farm to Diffuser) east of Bend is roughly 20 minutes away, and Tumalo Lavender north of town is a similar drive, so a summer afternoon can pair a U-cut session with a brewery tour.
