About Cardwell Hill Cellars

Cardwell Hill Cellars grows its grapes at the foot of Cardwell Hill outside Philomath, where the first vineyard was planted in 1983. Dan and Nancy Chapel bought the property in January 2000 and have run it as a family winery for more than 25 years. Their Monet Vineyard covers about 22 acres of Pinot Noir in the Pommard and Dijon clones, and the Degas Vineyard, bought in 2002, adds Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris on a steep south-facing slope. The vineyards carry Salmon-Safe and LIVE sustainability certifications.

The tasting room is open every day from 11 am to 5:30 pm. Inside is a 14-foot oak bar in a room of about 1,000 square feet, and a wrap-around terrace looks out over the vines to the Coast Range foothills and Mary's Peak. You can also arrange a tour of the winery through their website.

Bring a picnic: the winery invites guests to eat on the terrace, and there is a separate picnic area and a bocce court on the grounds. The winery describes itself as pet friendly. Event news is posted on their website and social pages.
