About E.Z. Orchards Farm Market
E.Z. Orchards is the Zielinski family's farm on Hazelgreen Road northeast of Salem. Ed Zielinski, born on this farm in 1905, registered the E.Z. Orchards name more than 90 years ago, and his son and three grandsons carried it on, growing apples, pears and peaches. The farm market opened in 1992, the HarvestFest began in 1994, the Shortcake Stand followed in 1995, and the apple cider donuts, inspired by a family trip to New England, have been made since 1996. In 2008 Kevin Zielinski started making French-style cider, and the farm now makes five ciders and an apple dessert wine.
The market is open year-round, Monday through Friday from 9 am to 6 pm and Saturday from 9 am to 5 pm, with Sunday hours from 11 am to 5 pm (call to confirm Sundays outside October). What is on the shelves follows the seasons: cherries and berries in spring; peaches, grapes and cucumbers in summer; pears, pumpkins and chestnuts in fall; hazelnuts, holly wreaths and Christmas trees in winter. Apple cider and pumpkin donuts are made daily. There is no U-pick; apples are sold in the market. The Shortcake Stand serves strawberry, peach and berry shortcake from about mid-May to the second week of September.
HarvestFest 2026 runs from late September through October 30, with a pumpkin patch, a corn maze with farm facts, hayrides, a petting area with piglets, goats, a calf and sheep, and games such as pedal tractors. Admission is $5 on weekday mornings, $7 on weekday afternoons with hayrides, and $12.50 on weekends; kids 2 and under are free. Weekends bring food vendors and a cider donut truck. Pets are not allowed in the market or at HarvestFest.
JB Family Growers' lavender farm and flower market is only about 5 minutes away, and E.Z. Orchards keeps its own lavender garden beside the Shortcake Stand, so summer visitors can easily do both.
