About Eola Hills Wine Cellars
Eola Hills Wine Cellars has its main winery on Highway 99W in Rickreall, just west of Salem, and this is the place to taste the whole portfolio: classic wines, Barrel Select Reserves, sparkling wines and dessert wines. The tasting room has the feel of a barrel room and opens onto a quiet private garden. From Salem, take Highway 22 west to exit 16 and follow 99W south toward Monmouth; the winery is on the right after the first light.
The Rickreall room is open daily from 11 am to 5 pm, and walk-ins are welcome. Wine experiences, large groups and events are booked through their website. Outside food is welcome, and picnic provisions are sold on site, so it is an easy place to stretch out lunch.
The winery's second tasting room, at its Legacy Estate Vineyard on Oak Grove Road west of Salem, is a smaller room open daily from noon to 5 pm with a partly covered patio, lawns and views over the vineyard and valley. From spring through fall it offers self-guided wiking (wine and hiking) trails through the vineyard hillsides past Legacy Lake, for $15 with the fee waived on a bottle purchase after your hike; the last start is an hour before closing, so call ahead in case of private events. The winery has also hosted yoga in the tasting room and live music.
JB Family Growers' lavender farm and flower market near Silverton is about 40 minutes east through Salem, so a summer day can pair lavender and flowers with a picnic tasting here.
